Priory Notes

C of E News Update – 17 March 2020

The following news update from The Church of England is sad but not unexpected; “In light of the Government guidance around non-essential contact, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued advice that public worship is suspended until further notice. Churches should be open where possible but with no public worship services taking place.” This means that there will be no church services in the Priory for a while but we will remain OPEN, all day every day. It’s a big space where we can sit a couple of metres apart from each other and meditate and pray. We will endeavour to keep frequently touched surfaces clean and ask that you if you come to the Priory you make use of the hand sanitisers provided. Keeping the church open is part of the Priory plan to keep on “knowing Christ and making him known” whether gathered together in church or scattered in our homes and work places. I’ll be emailing more on what that might look like in the next few days. We hope that the Spirit filled presence of the Priory will be source of strength and hope to us all in these challenging and unsettling times.
A prayer:
Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy
in this time of uncertainty and distress.
Sustain and support the anxious and fearful,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may rejoice in your comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.
