Priory Notes

Priory Notes – 3 March 2019

After some beautiful Spring-like days, the weather changed again at the weekend, even brining snow to some areas.

Don’t forget that on Shrove Tuesday (5th March) we have our ‘Big Pancake Day’ event in new college hall from 11:00 a.m until 1:30 p.m. There will be the usual selection of delicious pancakes – both sweet or savoury, served with tea or coffee for just £2. Everyone is welcome and this year the proceeds will be donated to help the Church Urban Fund which helps deprived communities.

This day is also two years since Becky joined us as our vicar!

Programme for the week:

Monday 4th and Wednesday 6th March:   Morning Prayer in the Priory at 9.15am.

Wednesday 6th March: Ash Wednesday service in the Priory at 7:00 p.m.

We welcome year 6 pupils of Bookwell  Primary School on Monday 4th March as they visit the Priory.

Please note that emergency guttering repairs to the East side of New College Hall will be taking place during this week – Monday to Friday.  Pedestrians are advised to take extra care due to scaffolding being erected for high-level repairs on the Barony carpark site.

On Tuesday 5th March works are expected on the gaspipe trench in the area outside Old College Hall, and people should not park there on Tuesday (it will be cordoned off).

Organisers of the Pancake Day may drop off their equipment at NCH. Others may park where possible, at the main entrance or on the Main road.

We have an Ash Wednesday service in the Priory at 7:00 p.m on 6th March.

On Friday 8th March SBYC will be meeting at 7:00 p.m in New College Hall. All secondary-school age young people are welcome for games, chat and snacks.

The men’s breakfast will be taking place in New College Hall at 8:00 a.m on Saturday 9th March.  All welcome for a hearty cooked breakfast and discussion.

Later at 10:00 a.m in the vicarage garden (to the left of the front door), there is the next ‘Big Dig’ for the Community Walled Garden project. Bring your boots, gardening gloves and tools (if you have them) and help create a a wonderful environment for wildlife and a haven for all to enjoy. (Also a chance to work off breakfast)!. Drinks will be provided.
