St Bees Youth Club
Welcome to our youth club page. We are a passionate group of young people, aged eleven upwards, who meet every other Friday at 19:00 in New College Hall.
We do a range of activities from board games to film night, arts and craft activities to guest speakers. We have a really supportive group of champions in our corner (who are overseen by the ministry team and churchwardens of St Bees Priory) whose onus is on friendship and community spirit.
Come along to one of our sessions and see for yourself!

Comic Book Workshop Storyboarding
A big thank you to local author Kelvin Knight who continued Dawn’s good work on our comic books by making us think about storylines and plots.
Comic Book Workshop
A big thank you to local artist Dawn Mills for her thoroughly enjoyable comic book workshop on 8th January 2016. It was so entertaining even the adults couldn’t resist!
Third Meeting – Bonfire Night
We had the biggest bonfire in the Secret Garden, with loads of hot dogs and so many different types of cakes, then mouth-sized marshmallows which we roasted into smalls over a brazier. After this came the giant sparklers A big shout out to all the adults who made this evening possible – THANK YOU!
Second Meeting – Board games and pizza night
We made awesome pizzas and played our favourite boardgames, then we decided on our name, SBYC, and were encouraged to design our logo to be chosen by all next session.
Opening Meeting – Barbeque and introductions
Since the relaunch of the youth group in September, the young people have been given autonomy to develop and chose the direction in which to take their group (under the guidance of our youth group champions: adults who are there when required).
A key decision was quickly taken how often to meet. We decided fortnightly not monthly.
Although many of our former members have grown up or moved following with the closure of St Bees School, some do return from university to help out and share their life experiences. Our beginnings can be traced back to 2009.
